听力原文: Flexible working hours were invented in Germany in the late 1960s, but reached Britain in 1972. The system allows workers to start and finish work whenever they want, with only two requirements. These are: firstly, that all workers must be present for certain "key" times in the day, and secondly, that all workers must work the agreed total number of hours per week.

The system has proved an almost total success wherever it has been tried. A survey of 700 workers on flexible hours showed three main advantages: a better balance between working and private life, avoidance of the need to travel during rush hours and the ability to be able to finish a certain task before leaving.

From the employer's point of view, the system tends to increase productivity, reduce labor turnover first. "Flexible time" was mainly confined to white collar workers, but it now being applied to manual workers too.

What people firstly used flexible working hours?

A.British.

B.Americans.

C.Germans.

D.Japanese.

听力原文: Beethoven was born in 1770. He studied first with his father. At 12 he bad some music published. In 1792 he settled in Vienna. Around 1795 his first important publications appeared. As a pianist, it was reported, he had fire, brilliance and fantasy as well as depth of feeling. These years also saw the composition of his first three piano concertos, his first two symphonies and a set of six string quartets.

1802, however, was a year of crisis for Beethoven, with his realization that the impaired hearing he had noticed for some time was incurable and sure to worsen. But he came through with his determination strengthened and entered a new creative phase, generally called his middle period. It is characterized by a heroic tone, evident in the Eroica Symphony, in Symphony No. 5, and in his opera Fidelio. With his powerful middle-period works Beethoven was firmly established as the greatest composer of his time.

The years after 1812 were relatively unproductive. He was seriously depressed, by his deafness and the resulting isolation and by the failure of his romantic relationships. But he came out of these trials to write his profoundest music, which surely reflects something of what he had been through. For Beethoven, the act of composition had always been a struggle; in the late works the sense of agonizing effort is a part of the music.

Beethoven established himself as the greatest composer

A.with his powerful middle-period works.

B.when his first three piano concertos were finished.

C.around 1802.

D.around 1795.

听力原文: Few people expect luxury while flying, but these days, even the basics seem to be in bad shape. It's not uncommon to find your tray table broken, the in-flight entertainment system not working and your seat cushion worn—all of which can make you think, how old is this plane anyway?

The reality for many U. S. air travelers is that most of their journeys take place on planes that have been in service for a decade or more. The average age of the fleet of the seven large U. S. passenger airlines is about 14 years old, according to The Airline Monitor. It found American and Delta/Northwest had the oldest fleets, at about 16 years on average". As of the end of 2008, a small percentage of the merged Delta/North west's planes dated back to the late 1960s.

U.S. fleets are among the oldest in the world, said Richard Aboulafia, an aviation analyst. "I'm not really sure that people should read that much into that," Aboulafia said. "From a safety standpoint, a lot of the older planes were built tougher and with proper maintenance, there's no reason why a plane can't stay safe for 25 to 30 years. "13 "It's also important to remember that a plane may be 20 years old, but its engines and other major systems could have been recently manufactured or upgraded", said Aboulafia. "There's less pressure on the airlines to upgrade the interior, unless it's a safety issue or a redesign that will save money".

According to the passage, the average age of the fleet of Delta/Northwest is______.

A.10 years

B.14 years

C.16 years

D.20 years
