As mentioned above, C imposes relatively few built - in ways of doing things on the progra
m- mer. Some common tasks, such as manipulating(66),(67), and doing(68)(I/O), are performed by calling on library functions. Other tasks which you might want to do, such as creating or listing directories, or interacting with a mouse, or displaying windows or other(69)elements, or doing color graphics, are not defined by the C language at all. You can do these things from a C program, of course, but you will be calling on services which are peculiar to your programming environment(70), processor, and operating system)and which are not defined by the C standard. Since this course is about portable C programming, it will also be steering clear of facilities not provided in all C environments.

听力原文: Switzerland is a land well-known for its beautiful landscape and people generally tend to associate Switzerland with mountains and mountain scenery.

But Switzerland is more than just a land of mountains. It is a country of highly intelligent, resourceful and hardworking people.

The Swiss manufacture precision instruments such as watches, calculators and other specialized goods like typewriters, sewing machines, turbines and generators which are sold to other countries.

They are also able to produce those goods which do not need huge amounts of raw materials. Most of the raw materials used in industry are imported from other countries.

As Switzerland has no sea coast, it has to pay heavily for imported raw materials which have to be sent over long distances and rocky land. For this reason the Swiss are interested only in producing precision products like watches, cameras, and other types of goods which make use of their skill and craftsmanship.

The well-known Swiss watch industry is a good example of this. Small amounts of raw materials are needed but a great deal of skill and precision is needed to produce a little item with so many minute parts.

Foodstuffs, especially milk products, are also processed and exported. Swiss cheese, butter, chocolate and condensed milk are popular in many countries. Swiss exports are sent by rail to neighbouring countries. But, for its overseas business, Switzerland has special arrangements with foreign ports like Amsterdam, Genoa and Rotterdam, through which Swiss goods are exported.

(27)

A.Small amounts of raw materials and little skill.

B.Huge amounts of raw materials but little skill.

C.Small amounts of raw materials but great workmanship and skill.

D.Large amounts of raw materials and skill and craftsmanship.

听力原文: Most ants are hard workers and often work from six o'clock in the morning until ten o'clock at night. The work is divided among the worker ants so that each one has a certain amount to do. We do not know how they decide what each one is to do, for they do not talk, some people think ants follow each other by their sense of smell. Ants often live to be one year old, and some have been known to live six or seven years. One way they get their food is from plant lice, which we might call their cows. The ants milk these "cows" by tapping the lice gently until a drop of honey comes out. Then they eat the honey. Ants take very good care of these plant lice and often build a covering over them so that they will be protected from the rain.
