NEW DESIGN, MORE BENEFITS
Here is your new Cashpoint Card. You can use it in exactly the same way as your present card, and the Plus sign means you can take money from your account at even more cash machines.
At any of the 2,400 Lloyds Bank Cashpoint machines in the UK you can take out up to£200 a day so long as there is enough money in your account and check how much money is in your account, and order a new statement.
You can also use the cash machines of the Bank of Scotland, Barclays Bank and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
When you are abroad, you can take out up to £200 a day in local currency from most machines with a VISA or Plus sign—so long as there is enough money in your account.
The purpose of the pamphlet is to show
A.how much money the card holder can take at a cash machine.
B.how many more benefits the card holder can now enjoy.
C.how card holders can use cash machines of other banks.
D.how travelers can use cash machines when abroad.
It is claimed that Al applications have moved from laboratories to the real world. However, conventional von Neumann computers are(66)for Al applications, because they are de- signed mainly for numerical processing. In a larger yon Neumann computer, there is a larger ratio of memory to processing power and consequently it is even less efficient. This(67)remains no matter how fast we make the processor because the length of the computation becomes dominated by the time required to move data between(68)and memory. This is called the yon Neumann(69). The bigger we build the machines, the worse it gets. The way to solve the problem is to diverse from the traditional architectures and to design special ones for Al applications. In the research of future Al architectures, we can take advantages of many(70)or currently emerging concepts. in computer architecture, such as dataflow computation, stack machines, tagging, pipelining, systolic array, multiprocessing, distributed processing, database machines, and inference machines.

Activity Based Costing(ABC) is an(126)technique that allows an organization to determine the actual(127)associated with each product and service produced by the organization without regard to the organizational structure. This chapter explains some of the uses and benefits of Activity Based Costing. We use IDEFO(128)modeling in conjunction with ABC to enable more effective business(129)design decisions. In order to achieve the major goals of business process improvement, process simplification and improvement, FAA managers need to fully understand the cost, time, and quality of activities performed by employees or machines throughout an entire organization. ABC methods enable(130)to cost out measurements to business simplification and process improvement.

So why do manufacturers keep on designing and producing VCRs that are awkward to use if the problems are so obvious. First, the problem we notice are not obvious to technically minded (有技术思想的) designers with years o[ experience and trained to understand how appliances work. Secondly, designers tend to add one or two features at a time to each model, whereas you or I face all a machine' features at once. Thirdly, although finding problems in a finished product is easy, it is too late by then to do anything about the design. Finally, if manufacturers can get away with selling products that are difficult to use, it is not worth the effort of any one of them to make improvements.
Some manufacturers say they concentrate on providing a wide range of features rather than on making the machines easy to use. But that gives rise to the question, "Why can't you have features that are easy to use?" The answer is you can.
Good design practice is a mixture of specific procedures and general principles. For a start, designers should build an original model of the machine and try it out on typical members of the public—not on colleagues in the development laboratory. Simple public trials would quickly reveal many design mistakes. In an ideal world, there would be some ways of controlling quality such as that the VCR must be redesigned repeatedly until, say, 90 per cent of users can work 90 per cent of the features correctly 90 per cent of the time.
The author had trouble operating his VCR because
A.he had neglected the importance of using the timer
B.the machine had far more technical features than necessary
C.he had set about using it without proper training
D.its operation was far more difficult than the designer intended it to be

Activity Based Costing (ABC) is an(1)technique that allows an organization to determine the actual(2)associated with each product and service produced by the organization without regard to the organizational structure. This chapter explains some of the uses and benefits of Activity Based Costing. We use IDEFO(3)modeling in conjunction with ABC to enable more effective business(4)design decisions.
In order to achieve the major goals ofbusiness process improvement, process simplification and improvement, FAA manages need to fully understand the cost, time and quality of activities performed by employees or machines throughout an entire organization. ABC methods enable(5)to cost out measurements to business simplification and process improvement.
●Ipv6 is (71) for "Internet Protocol Version 6"。Ipv6 is the "next generation" protocol design by the IETF to (72) the current version Inernet Protocol,IP Version 4.Most of today's internet uses Ipv4,which is now nearly twenty years old.Ipv4 has been remarkably resilient in spite of its age,but it is beginging to have problems. Most importantly ,there is a growing (73) of Ipv4 addresses, which are needed by all new machines added to the Internet.Ipv6 fixs a number of problems in Ipv4,shch as the (74) number of available Ipv4 addresses. It also adds many improvements to Ipv4 in areas such as souting and network autoconfiguration.Ipv6 is expected to gradually replace Ipv4 ,with the two coexing for a number of years during a transition (75) .
