听力原文： Hi, everyone. As we mark the anniversary of the Iraq war, we're being reminded of all that our soldiers have sacrificed, and what some continue to experience. The scandal at Walter Reed put their suffering into sharp focus. And so was the new study from the Archives of Internal Medicine. The study found that about a third of veterny vets were diagnosed with mental illness or a psycho social disorder, everything from depression and post traumatic stress, to homeless and domestic violence. The highest rate of mental problems is among the youngest -- soldiers between 18 and 24. The doctor who conducted the study says the num-bets may eventually surpass those from Vietnam.

I had just gone to bed after a very hard day when the phone rang. It was an eccentric(怪癖) farmer. I had never met him before although I had heard people talk about him. He sounded quite nervous and talked for a minute or so before I understood anything. Even then all I could make out was that someone called Milly had had a very bad accident. I was even more shocked when he told me that he had put her in the barn(厩). "I wouldn't leave her out in the cold!" he said.

He lifted his candle and I saw a dark figure on the ground. "She was such a good cow! I wouldn't let anyone but a doctor touch her!" he said, and burst into tears again.
