Many students who participated in the2010 civil service exams (公务员考试) in China saw them as the "most difficult" , due to their emphasis on general knowledge.
This year, the Chinese central government offices have opened 15, 000 posts but it's not large enough to find a home for the one million people applying. According to a 2009 Washington Post report, US students are also giving government jobs a hard look. Plus, civil servants get a one-month paid holiday every year, 20 days of medical leave and 20-day half-paid vacation.
