听力原文: Thank you for coming here today—I hope you're all enjoying the lunch. As you know, we're here to celebrate with Mr. Kim, who is retiring after 37 years with New Star Corporation. When he started here as an inexperienced university graduate, he had no idea that he would be president of the company one day. But he never stopped trying to improve things. With great persistence— he never gave up—he worked his way up to become the company's leader. Even in this last year of his service to New Star, Mr. Kim initiated a market research study to reevaluate our company's performance and ensure its continued profitability. On a very personal level, I believe Mr. Kim has inspired each one of us with his wisdom, fairness and empathy towards all staff from board members to our newest recruits. Please join me in wishing Mr. Kim a fond farewell.
What is the purpose of the luncheon?
A.To discuss business strategies
B.To welcome new staff
C.To honor a colleague
D.To conduct market research

If everyone contributes just $10, we can buy her the portable DVD player that she wants. See my assistant, Basia, by Thursday at 4:00 to contribute to the gift. I hope to see you all on December 14 at 5:00 P.M.

Re: Transfer
Hi Reiko,
I heard the news this morning about your transfer. I was sad to learn that you will be moving to the Yokohama warehouse. It seems like half of the staff is leaving for one reason or another. I considered (144) , too, but my husband would never agree to it.
If you need any help packing or making arrangements in Yokohama, let me know. I have many relatives in Yokohama if you and your husband need anywhere to stay for a short time (145) you are looking for a new home. Of course, those arrangements may already have been made by the company.
I will miss our conversations in the staff room. You always tell the best stories about your family members, and I feel like I know them personally. I'm sure you will be busy this month, but I'd love to get together for lunch or dinner before you go if you can spare the (146) Tuesdays or Thursdays are the best days for me. If you can't make lunch or dinner, I hope we can at least make one last date for coffee.
Talk to you soon,
Junko

W: No, I did not approve of suffragettes.
M: So you think in the long term...
W: In the long term, no harm was done. As long as their demonstrations were peaceful.
M: Do you think it would matter very much if women hadn't achieved the vote?
W: I don't think it would have made a great deal of difference, no, but there are certain things they've done those been Members of Parliament that have been very useful in helping women in their jobs, in other vocations. I think it's good that it happened. But I wish it happened a little bit more peacefully, perhaps.
M: What sort of things can you remember, what other sorts of demonstrations do you remember?
W: Marching, they were marching. But of course those were much more peaceful days, nobody interfered with their marches. There were a few boos here and there and a lot of clapping.
M: Did you, actually know any suffragettes yourself?
W: Well, my friends, my close friends, were not suffragettes but I had one or two friends, not very close friends, that were. And we used to have great arguments and I used to say I didn't want the vote, I don't want to vote.
M: How did they react to that?
W: They said I ought to join the movement but I said no, I don't want to vote.
M: So you don't mind actually joining men in their world of work and sport but you're happy to leave politics to men.
W: No. I would rather really leave politics to men.
