Part BDirections: You will hear four dialogues or monologues. Before listening to each one

Part B

Directions: You will hear four dialogues or monologues. Before listening to each one, you will have 5 seconds to read each of the questions which accompany it. While listening, answer each question by choosing A, B, C or D. After listening, you will have 10 seconds to check your answer to each question. You will hear each piece ONLY ONCE.

听力原文: In the next few decades, people are going to travel very differently from the way they do today. Everyone is going to drive electrically-powered cars, so in the few years, people won't worry about running out of gas. Some of the large automobile companies are really moving ahead with this new technology. F&C Motors, a major auto company, for example, is going to hold a press conference next week. After the press conference, the company will present its new electronically-operated models. Transportation in the future won't be limited to the ground; many people predict that traffic will quickly move to the sky. In the coming years, instead of radio reports about read conditions and highway traffic, news reports will talk about traffic jams in the sky. But the sky isn't the limit. In the future, you will probably even be able to take a trip to the moon. Instead of listening to regular airplane announcements, you will hear someone say: the spacecraft to the moon leaves in 10 minutes. Please check your equipment. And remember no more than 10 ounces of carry-on baggage are allowed.

What will be used to power cars in the next few decades?

A.Gas.

B.Electricity.

C.Solar energy.

D.Alcohol.

M: I sure did.

W: Well, I'm thinking about taking it next year.

M: Don't do it.

听力原文: Most movies have created a mistaken impression of the American Indians. Until recently, Indians have been pictured as noble savages, or cruel warriors, or clever hunters. In many films they have appeared as fierce enemies of the European colonists or as the attackers of the wagons of white families traveling across the plains.

Hollywood and television did invent these Indians. Some of the films were based on history, though the facts were changed to make a more exciting story. It should be understood, however, that these historical facts related only to certain tribes of Indians, and only to a period less than a century ago.

Before the Spanish took over New Mexico, the horse was unknown in America. But by the middle of the eighteenth century, there were many horses on the Great Plains. Then tribe after tribe took to them. Finally, horses were used by the tribe, the Sioux, to fight the last and most famous battles with the white man. These Plain Indians have captured the imagination of millions, not only in the United States but the world over. But they are only one group of tribes among hundreds. And their way of life, which depended upon the use of horses, came into being long after the colonization of North America by Europeans began.

What is the mistaken impression of the American Indians created by most movies?

A.All of them didn' t know how to ride a horse.

B.All of them couldn' t live without horses.

C.All of them were uncivilized and fond of killing.

D.All of them lived a wandering life on the horseback.

W: Sorry, but I usually go to the cafeteria and review them. Say, how about copying them over in the library?

M: OK. I think I've got enough coins for the machines.

W: No problem. But I don't understand why you need my notes, Carter; you haven't missed any classes.

M: Weekday mornings, I'm a cashier at a coffer shop downtown. After work, I come directly to school!

W: Wow, you're probably exhausted!

W: Looking at your case history I see that you had pneumonia four years ago and that you also had a minor operation last year. Did you have any long after effects?

M: Well. I don't remember so...

M: Just a couple of days. But about six months ago I was at home for about two weeks with a cold or something.

W: Did you see a doctor at that time or did you just stay at home?

M: No, I didn't see a doctor. The symptoms were about the same as this time. When I began to feel better, I returned to work.

W: And when did you start feeling so tired again?

M: It must have been about ten days ago. When I came home from work one night there just didn't seem to be any reason to go back the next day.

W: Well, it sounds as if your problem may be the kind of work you do. The tests I just made really don't show anything wrong. But I would like to make some further tests in the hospital.

W: All right, you can check in tonight, and I'll make the test tomorrow morning.
